FUNDAMENTALS

Agronomics

Over the course of my career I have gained extensive knowledge in various agronomic practices for golf courses. Through education and my own execution, I have developed a set of programs that are capable of consistently delivering firm and fast conditions on all playing surfaces. These sound agronomics are a combination of shade mitigation, soil conditioning and nutrient inputs. While much of our industry is science-based, there is still very much an “art” required for providing a world-class course daily. I possess the talent to balance the science and art, which has led to much success.

Attention to Detail

I believe perception is everything. From the time a person drives into the club until they walk off the eighteenth green, I strive to deliver an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere around every turn. Prioritizing attention to the small details enhances the experience that I want to provide to the membership and their guests at all times. Furthermore, I understand the importance of seeing the golf course from the players perspective and firmly believe in my ability to recognize shortcomings in playability and making the right changes to address them.

Tournament Experience

While daily course work is vital to a successful operation, it is also of great importance to be able to deliver a championship course setup for special events at any club. Over the course of my career I have assisted in preparing courses for all levels of events -- experience that has provided me the skills required to meet the needs of my club when their big tournaments come along each season.

Leadership

Building a reliable team capable of executing your vision on the golf course is a skill in itself. Every individual is motivated differently and understanding that is paramount in creating a cohesive group. Teaching is as much a part of the job as growing turf and I pride myself on being able to teach the proper technique and etiqeutte through a combination of hands on attention and the use of visual aids to both English and Spanish speaking employees. I would like to implement an internship program that helps provide the opportunity for young turf professionals to experience being part of an operation that emphasizes growth and learning in all aspects of turf maintenace. I believe this is essential to the expansion of our industry and would be proud to continue on a tradition that helped shape me into the professional I am today.
